Abstract : Deep-sea bottom invertebrates collected during investigations in the Indian Ocean provided material for this study. Bottom grab samples from 46 stations and trawl samples from 13 stations were analyzed. These stations were occupied in the Bay of Bengal, Andaman Sea and northern part of the Indian Ocean. In tropical latitudes of the Indian Ocean exists an area where the invertebrate bottom fauna is quantitatively more abundant than in the same latitudes of the Pacific Ocean. (Author)
