Abstract : This is a final report for research conducted on the ductility of cubic ionic solids in the transition from single crystal to the polycrystalline state. As such the project included research on single crystals, bicrystals, tricrystals, and polycrystalline specimens. Almost all of the work was conducted on NaCl as a structural model for MgO. Limited research was conducted on CaO, MgO, and LiF. (Author)
