Abstract : Bridge measurements were made to determine direct capacitance and dissipation factor variations with frequency, temperature and DC bias voltage for each of 3 special Sprague Type S3631, 30 mfd metallized paper capacitors. The following ranges were covered: Frequency: .05 to 10 cps; Temperature: 90 to 165 degrees F; DC Bias Voltage: 0 to 50 volts. Curves displaying the variations over the above ranges are presented for each test capacitor. A new type operational bridge, unusual in design, was constructed. It yielded good accuracy over the above frequency range, high current sensitivity, and excellent DC balance stability for these very low frequency measurements. (Author)
