Abstract : Approximate boundary conditions for sound waves at a discontinuity in temperature, pressure and flow velocity where heat is evolved are derived for the one-dimensional case. These conditions are used to obtain the resonant frequencies of a duct containing a flame. It is assumed that changes in heat evolution depend solely on pressure changes and an approximate condition for maintenance of sound by the flame is found. (Author)
