Abstract : The present report is concerned with the creep problem of stress concentration at holes in thin sheets subjected to loads in their own plane. In particular, the problem of creep stress concentration at a small circular hole in an infinite thin plate subjected to uniaxial tension is analyzed in the first part of the report. The second part is essentially an extension of the preceding analysis to the case when the loading is biaxial and consists of tension and compression. These analyses are based on a creep power law and an analogy between the problem of creep and the corresponding nonlinear elastic problem. The solution of this problem is based on Galerkin's method. The stress solutions for some values of the index of the power law are presented. (Author)
