Abstract : The D. C. overall resistivities of composite filaments composed of boron deposited on a conducting wire core, vary from 2600 micro-ohms cm for tungsten core to 8.5 ohms cm for silica/carbon core. The contact resistance, which is large, of the tungsten material is very sensitive to contact length because of the high resistance of the boron sheath, and is described to a first order by the equation derived in the paper. Doping the boron to reduce its resistance would improve this situation.
