Abstract : This feasibility study consisted of a literature survey and visits to activities using 'liquid crystals.' It was found that the use of 'liquid crystals' as a nondestructive inspection tool is not only feasible, but a reality for the inspection of certain aircraft structures and assemblies. However, specific applications require study and experimentation prior to use. (Author)
