Abstract : The radiation pressure on a conducting sphere was found to have a sharp peak of 2.6 times the geometrical cross section at a wavelength of five times the sphere radius. In the limit of zero wavelength the effective cross section approaches the geometrical cross section asymptotically, while for wavelengths longer than 20 radii the crosssection becomes negligible.
