Abstract : Recent observations of low-energy proton and electron intensities over the energy range of about 100 eV to 50,000 eV in the local evening-midnight quadrant of the magnetosphere near the geomagnetic equatorial plane at 5 to 15 RE (RE, earth radii) geocentric radial distances are summarized with several comments concerning the relationship of these distributions of low-energy charged particles with earlier measurements. Of particular interest are the morphology of the distributions of low-energy protons of the extraterrestrial ring current during magnetic storms, the temporal variations of low-energy electron spectrums in the outer radiation zone and several salient features of the distributions of low-energy electrons in the vicinity of the 'trapping boundary' in the dark hemisphere of the earth's magnetosphere at about 8 RE geocentric distance near the magnetic equator.
