Abstract : An approximate method was employed elsewhere to calculate the luminescence in a cavity resonator. The method was later generalized to include the more general and specifically important case of a resonator with external plane mirrors, with both the nonparallel attitude of the rod ends and the possible misalignment of the mirrors taken into consideration. The present article reduces the problem of finding the gain and yield of the resonator under steady-state conditions. The present paper investigates the effect of the air gap and the mirror misalignment angle on the gain and yield emitted through the resonator base. The study of the dependence on the gain (which becomes stabilized under steady-state conditions) provides the data required for the determination of the various types of losses in the resonator, calculation of noise, and the angular structure of the radiation.
