Abstract : Data concerning Ixodidae found on people (1953-1962) were collected. Fifty-seven ticks sucked onto people were taken off (32 females, 15 males, 10 nymphs). In the town of Kerch a hungry female Ixodes redikorzevi redikorzevi 01. was taken off a person in whom it caused a disease accompanied by recurrent fainting fits and general severe condition. Of 24 species of Ixodidae known to occur in the Crimea, 8 were found on people. Most frequently people are attacked by ticks Ixodes ricinus (L), Hyalomma plumbeum plumbeum Panz. and Rhipicephalus bursa Can and Fanz. In the steppe part of the Crimea and in the southern coast H. pl. plumbeum (the vector of the Crimean hemorrhagic fever) is found on people most frequently. (Author)
