Abstract : Hemorrhagic fever is a highly contagious and acute disease caused by filterable viruses. The carrier (vector) of the virus and its transmitter is a small, brown coloured ixodid Hyalomma plumbeum plumbeum tick. The disease is communicated to man through the bite of a virus-infected tick and also by destroying them on the skin. A particular danger exists when the blood of the squashed tick gets on damaged human skin or the mucous membrane of an eye, mouth or nose.
