Abstract : Optico-mechanical scanning devices having complicated circuits and using moving parts have energy losses of the radiating object during reflection and refraction and create undesirable torques. Photoelectric scanning devices do not have these deficiencies. The article reports the development of new photoelectric devices of search and tracking which do not have the deficiencies indicated and permit decreasing the read-out time of useful information regarding an object. This is attained by means of optimum scanning of the analyzed field. A device is shown which has a working principle based on the use of an electroluminescent converter consisting of a photoconductor and an electroluminophor. Other devices are discussed, such as, those which are based only on a change of conductivity under the effect of radiation. An example is given. A device in which the analyzed field is projected through a semitransparent mirror onto two sensitive screens located at a right angle to each other is simpler in design. These devices satisfy all the requirements placed on contemporary means of search and tracking.
