Abstract : In previous references problems concerning the transformation of air masses over limited underlying surfaces were theoretically analyzed with a consideration of the horizontal, or more precisely the lateral (in a direction normal to the wind) turbulent diffusion. The coefficient of lateral diffusion was assumed to be proportional to the wind speed k sub y = au, where a- is a certain constant having a dimension of length. This report considers other experimental methods of determining the coefficient of horizontal turbulent diffusion (more precisely of parameter, a), based on measurements of standard meteorological elements such as evaporation, heat fluxes, humidity, temperature, et cetera.
