Abstract : A new technology was developed in which adhesive copolymers can be electrically coated onto a metallic substrate. This new development is particularly interesting when applied to various possible uses in the wire and cable industry. Improved constructions in multipair telephone cables, CATV cables, and supported messenger cables are areas in which this technology can be particularly beneficial. The utility of adhesive copolymer shields was demonstrated in multipair telephone, and CATV cables. Electrodeposition is a means of using adhesive copolymers in many areas of communication cables. It also lends itself to adaptation into existing manufacturing procedures if an in-line process is desired. (Author)
