Abstract : A giant phyllosoma larva of a loricate crustacean, 69 mm in length, was captured in the deep scattering layer of the waters north of Bermuda. This larva is identical to a 70 mm larva captured in the Marshall Islands. Microscopic examination of extruding fecal material showed that this animal had been feeding on some form of Cnidaria. Phyllosoma larvae are the larval stages of scyllarid and palinurid lobsters, commonly known as 'spiny lobsters.' (Author)
