Abstract : (1) INFLUENCE OF ENHANCED LUMINESCENCE ON THE GENERATION CHARACTERISTICS OF SOLID-STATE LASERS. The influence of enhanced luminescence in polished rods on the generation threshold and power is considered as a function of rod length, the reflection coefficients of the external mirrors and the internal-loss parameter. It is shown that an increase in rod length may cause generation to break off, while at standard rod lengths, the threshold is several times higher than when amplified luminescence is not taken into account. Specific calculations are carried out for ruby and neodymium glass rods. (2) THERMAL DEFORMATION OF THE RESONATOR OF A SOLID-STATE OPTICAL QUANTUM GENERATOR. The paper considers the deformation of a solid-state OKG (laser) resonator due to nonuniform heating of the active material. The deformation of cylindrical neodymium-glass specimens is studied experimentally. Significant double refraction was detected on optical pumping of the specimens.
