Abstract : The electron density of air in the region behind a reflected shock wave was studied experimentally and compared with values obtained from thermodynamic calculations. The measurement of electron density was made with a microwave system which monitored the power transmitted through the plasma. Measured values of electron density were found to be higher than those predicted from thermodynamic considerations. (Author)
