Abstract : Experimental and theoretical research on low-energy ionic collisions is described. The program developed an angular ion-scattering apparatus of improved accuracy and reproducibility for the collision dynamics of ions against neutral atoms and molecules in the 1-200 eV energy range. Emphasis was placed on three classes of investigations: (a) collision induced dissociation, (b) ion-molecule reactions, (c) collisions of doubly-charged ions with diatomic molecules. The experiments were successful in determining both angular and kinetic energy distributions of charged products. In addition improved theoretic models were developed on elastic scattering using the JWKB (Jeffreys-Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin) approximation. Enhancement of experimental resolution was also improved, using a locally developed numerical unfolding procedure. (Author)
