Abstract : Experimental investigation was conducted of nondesign expiration of rarefied gas from nozzle. It was demonstrated that width of zone of pressure propagation upstream is considerable. At the nozzle wall it is equal to 3-5 thicknesses of boundary layer, determined ahead of region of interaction. Obtained values of pressure coefficients agree with available experimental results related to interaction of laminar boundary layer on plate with shock waves at large values of Reynolds number R = 1000 to 10,000,000. Experimental investigation was conducted, of influence of rarefaction on readings total pressure cap and conical cap. For cylindrical total pressure cap correction for rarefaction in investigated range of variation of parameters reaches 30%; for conical cap the measured static pressure on surface of cone was higher than 'ideal' by 1.5-2 times. It was established that the determining parameter for calculating influence of rarefaction on indications of cylindrical total-pressure cap will be the ratio of Mach number to Reynolds number, M/R.
