Abstract : Upper and lower bounds on the effective elastic properties of biaxially fiber reinforced material are derived. Two geometric models for the composite have been considered, and results are presented for several practical materials. In addition, bounds on the components of the shell stiffness tensor are obtained in terms of the bounds of the elastic moduli.
