Abstract : The report covers the development, design and performance of a photoplastic recording (PPR) film recording and projection apparatus. The apparatus has demonstrated that characters formed by a cathode ray tube image on Type 216 PPR film behind a lenticular screen can be recorded at one millisecond per character such that the pattern of the lenticular screen controls light diffraction in the projection step to permit a four-color display. Cathode ray tube (CRT) phosphor life of over 500,000 frames is inferred from test data. (Author)
