Abstract : A flat plate in hypersonic flow at zero angle of attack is stepwise accelerated in the direction of the initial flow by a small amount. The relevant non-steady boundary layer equations with their space and time boundary conditions are transformed into a coupled set of partial differential equations. These equations, for the case of zero pressure gradient, are linearized and the numerical solutions obtained for both zero and non-zero heat transfer at the wall for 0 < pi < or = 1. For each of the cases calculated, the wall shear, heat transfer, and induced weak interaction pressure are obtained. (Author)
