Abstract : Calculations of the author's solar model, reported at the New York APS meeting, Jan. 1965, were continued at the Naval Research Laboratory as part of a research program undertaken as an E. O. Hulburt Research Appointee. Of particular significance is that due to the increased mathematical and physical accuracies introduced at NRL, the resulting photospheric densities lead to mean atomic volumes in excellent agreement with those needed to explain the drop in intensity of photospheric hydrogen lines through screening. The solar model itself is the first known continuous calculation -- from the center through the photosphere -- of the sun's mass, radius, and luminosity. The resulting model, incidentally, yields values of electron pressure and temperature in the photosphere in good agreement with the currently accepted photospheric values.
