Abstract : It is concluded that: (1) The console satisfies the design requirements set forth in the specification, as determined by factory acceptance tests. (2) The console is compatible with the SEAL (Signal Evaluation Airborne Laboratory) concept of flight inspection and will be useful in determining overall system performance. (3) The present console configuration approaches that of future production consoles. Fundamentally, however, it must be considered a tool for determining SEAL system performance and not necessarily the rigid prototype for future production consoles. In fact, this first console may include equipment and features beyond those required of production models and, conversely, may not include features that may later prove desirable. The modifications required can be determined after suitable flight-test experience. (4) The present DME and bearing-TACAN configuration will limit the utility of the SEAL system, due to the lack of a cross-check and back-up capability. (Author)
