Abstract : It was concluded that the red lighting installation of Squadron Ready Room Number 2 was good, and superior to that of Ready Room Number 1. Light distribution throughout the room was good. Brightness on the right side, (facing front) was lower than recommended, but this was due to the misplacement of the fixtures in relation to the seat positions. Spectral quality met specifications. The brightness distributions on the Flight Status and Briefing chalkboards were below par; the luminaires serving the chalkboards were not so positioned as to give optimal illumination. The teletype screen brightness was too high, producing glare; the light was white. When operating, it had the effect of substantially nullifying the dark adaptation function of the red lighting. The white lighting was excellent. Glare was at a minimum. Brightness contrasts were acceptable. (Author)
