Abstract : Final value control of linear plants is discussed. An expression for the closedloop fundamental matrix is presented in terms of the openloop transition matrix. It is shown that for scalar minimumenergy final value control the singularities in the feedback loops are inversely proportional to the order of the derivative being fed back; that is, the position loop has an nth order singularity, the velocity loop an (n1)th order singularity, etc. A partiallyclosedloop control is developed that allows the highestorder feedback singularity to be set between n and zero and the results are illustrated by examples.
