Abstract : Energy requirements obtained by running the computer program that predicts strains in a flat circular blank forced into an ellipsoidal die are listed for several sets of parameters. Analysis is continuing on the mechanics of the hydrostatic bulge test, tube bulging, and bulging of thick walled tubes. Final assembly started in December on the electromagnetic forming facility. Energy transfer experiments on pentolite are nearing completion. Progress is reported in explosive welding, shock hardening, ductility during forming, and other studies on the effect of high energy forming on material properties. Better dies have been designed for tube bulging and dome forming. (Author)
