Abstract : Measurements of energetic electron fluxes were made aboard the synchronous satellite ATS-1 (1966-110A) during the magnetic storm of January 13-14, 1967. Between 0007 and about 0105 UT (approximately 1400-1500 local time) on January 14, the electron fluxes dropped to background levels in a manner which when associated with the onboard magnetometer data suggests that the boundary of the magnetosphere was compressed to less than 6.6 Re on the day side of the magnetosphere.
