Abstract : A series of model tests were run using a variety of circular orifices on the inlet of a straight pipe diffuser installed behind a convergent nozzle. Measurements of static pressure were taken in a sealed plenum surrounding the nozzle exit and diffuser inlet. For the ranges of system and nozzle pressure ratios tested, significant increases in altitude observed in the plenum were obtained using the orifice inlets. The tests show promise for extending the altitude capability of a jet engine test cell. (Author)
