Abstract : The transmission of plane electromagnetic waves incident at an arbitrary angle through an anisotropic slab of plasma is considered. Utilization of the boundary conditions at both surfaces of the slab results in a series of eight simultaneous equations for the field components. Since some of the coefficients of these equations (treated as an 8 x 8 matrix) are zero, the transmitted components of the electric field which are vertically polarized or horizontally polarized can be found in terms of the vertically and horizontally polarized electric field components of the incident wave by solving three 4 x 4 matrices. Numerical results are presented for the case where the magnetic field is oriented normal to the surfaces of the plasma slab. (Author)
