Abstract : The report describes research in cation-radical formation, and on the reactions of cation radicals. The following are reported: the formation of cation radicals from substituted diphenyl sulfides in sulfuric acid and persulfuric acid; the complete esr spectrum of the thianthrene cation radical in aluminum chloride-nitromethane; the N-methylphenothiazine cation radical; and the reaction of thianthrene with iodine monochloride.
