Abstract : The report presents the results of a continuing investigation into the methodology of conjecturing about the future in the field of education. The focus within education is upon possible future roles for educators and potential major issues. The report describes the structure and content of a 'contextual map,' one of the twenty-one methods used in the study of the future which was identified, defined, and evaluated in a previous paper. A contextual map is defined as a graphic display of the logical and causal dependencies of functionally related phenomena. The potential uses and advantages of contextual mapping for long-range educational policy making are discussed. (Author)
