Abstract : Methodological and substantive progress or alteration are here distinguished in order to assess their likely effects in management, art and science especially when, as at present, methodological changes are occurring at an increasing pace. This can bring confusion in its train along with a feeling of loss of identity and a search for new orientations (values) as a result of altering the relations of persons to each other, to their jobs and their environment which generally accompany such fast-paced changes in methodology.
