Abstract : The work presents the results of investigations of the negative ionization of iodine atoms and positive ionization of sodium atoms on an incandescent surface of tantalum, which were undertaken for the purpose of evaluating the magnitude of minimum and maximum work functions of the electrons of surface spots, and the portions of the surface occupied by these spots on a polycrystalline tantalic thread heated by alternating current.
