Abstract : Within the boundary of isolated Crimean geographical zones, Rh. sanguineus is irregularly distributed. This depends on natural conditions of natural climatic zones. Thus, this tick species reaches greatest numbers in the southern, eastern, and western Black Sea littoral, and in mountainous zones and isolated foothill areas. Toward the north of peninsula, its numbers decrease and even become single in steppe areas. Owing to wide distribution of Rh. sanguineus, control measures should be applied for reduction of tick numbers or their complete destruction, as well as for providing conditions excluding their development as a vector source of distribution of Marseilles fever.
