Abstract : This report describes the methods used to test accelerometer subsystems. These tests, designated standard tests, are designed to determine the magnitude, stability, and repeatability of the coefficients of an assumed performance model. The accelerometer output is described in terms of the acceleration inputs along three orthogonal axes and the coefficients are estimated from the test data. The description of methods includes data reduction techniques and a description of the specialized test equipment used to obtain the data (indexing stands and centrifuges). The tests described are 2-point tests, 4-point tests, multi-point tests, parameter variation tests, and centrifuge tests with methods for determining stability and repeatability defined. A typical test program is outlined and the offices to be contacted to initiate a test program are identified. (Author)
