Abstract : Questions are discussed which are connected with the analysis of noise immunity of binary decimal codes during their use in digital measuring instruments. The selection of a quantitative measure of noise immunity is discussed. Noise immunity of binary-decimal codes is studied and a model of a monodecade digital instrument under the influence of short duration additive pulse interferences. The resistance of binary-decimal codes to additive pulse interferences of short duration was examined, inasmuch as the literature on the subject appears to be contradictory. A quantitative characteristic of interference-free properties of binary-decimal codes is suggested; it takes into account the degree of mismatch of coding results with respect to the real value of the measured magnitude, as well as the probability of occurrence of this mismatch. Interferences of two kinds were considered: first-order (directly affecting the measured input value), and second-order (acting upon individual components and producing malfunctions).
