Abstract : Approximation methods are presented for constructing confidence intervals on the probability of getting a success in an experiment that has two possible outcomes for any one trial. The methods presented are those that can be easily employed with a minimum of computation by an experimenter in the field. Implementing the methods requires a basic understanding of the nature of the experiment rather than a knowledge of statistical methodologies. The methods therefore provide a means for the experimenter to quickly analyze or monitor his experiment. (Author)
