Abstract : A previous simulation of a seaplane-sea system in three degrees of freedom for takeoff and landing analysis (see AD-648 848) was reconstructed in several models at the new Convair Hybrid Computer Complex. Considerable improvement over previous results was obtained. The final hydrodynamic model is finally fitted with two airframes, and each model is then operated in random waves of two intensities. It is shown that the STOL model reduces takeoff distances and maximum vertical accelerations in sea state 4 (significant wave height of 6 feet) by more than 80 percent. (Author)
