Abstract : This paper deals with one immediate consequence of population growth and the current structure of development in Colombia, internal migration. Migration rates for various groups in the Colombian population are first estimated from various demographic data to clarify who migrates and to where. A model of interregional migration is then set forth and estimated for Colombia, which indicates the responsiveness of migration to economic, demographic and political developments in the rural and urban sectors.
