Abstract : The book presents modern statistical methods for design of experiments aimed at determining optimal conditions for complex processes. The following topics are considered in detail: the complete factorial experiment and fractional replicas; steepest ascent along the response surface; description of an almost stationary region; screening experiments; adaptive optimization of industrial processes. The material is presented in the language of matrix algebra. In many cases, the examples used are taken from studies carried out in the laboratories where the authors are employed. Particular attention is paid to the physical-chemical interpretation of research results.
