Abstract : An analysis was made of the turbulent combustion of two parallel semi-infinite streams of reacting gases. It was assumed that the reaction rate is infinite, the combustion zone has a zero thickness, and the concentration of the oxidizer and fuel are zero at the flame surface. Solutions were obtained for Prandtl and Schmidt number differing from or equal to unity. For the case of Pr and Sc = 1, velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles were calculated for carbon monoxide combustion at 9 cm and 49 cm from the outlet. The calculations showed that a deviation of Pr and Sc from unity does not substantially affect the location of the flame front. (Author)
