Abstract : This report is a study of the problem of initiation of low-density PETN by impact of plane hydrogen-oxygen detonation waves in a tube of constant cross-sectional area. The charges were either pressings of pure crystals (of neddle-form or finely ground) or explosive-impregnated foams. Ionization probes and a streak camera were used to study the process of initiation as well as the shock waves generated on detonation of the explosive. (Author)
