Abstract : Atomization of different preparations by ultrasonic irradiation is one of the most effective methods of producing biological aerosols. The productivity of ultrasonic atomizers is 10 and more times greater than that of a pneumatic apparatus. The aerosol particles are almost monodisperse and of magnitudes which give maximal penetration into all of the sections of the respiratory tract. Ultrasonic irradiation of biological preparations for 30 min (on the sample of a suspension of Protens mirabilis) was not accompanied by their destruction, and the aerosol concentration remained constant. The apparatus construction and the method of atomization can be applied with success to the experimental investigation of aerosols and the study of the problems connected with their use. (Author)
