Abstract : The disproportionation of diphenylsilane was determined as a function of temperature and catalyst. It was found that below 100C the stability is quite good, while at 200C, a 40% disproportionation of the starting material occurs after only two hours. The rate of rearrangement was greatly accelerated by the presence of catalysts like chloroplatinic acid. Triphenylsilane was more stable than diphenylsilane under identical conditions of temperature and catalyst. (Author)
