Abstract : In order to calculate the dichroism of oriented polymer molecules containing polyene units, it is necessary to know the oscillator strength of a polyene unit as a function of its degree of conjugation. Free electron and molecular orbital calculations of such oscillator strengths are extended for this purpose. (Author)
