Title :   ADJUSTMENTS OF DEPOT LEVEL INVENTORY RECORDS.

Corporate Author : LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT INST WASHINGTON D C

Report Date : AUG 1968

Pagination or Media Count : 75

Abstract : The report discusses the major effects of discrepancies between the levels of stocks of materials at Department of Defense depots and the quantities reflected by the inventory records at depots and inventory control points. The report found that, while the military seems to be no worse in inventory record inaccuracies than does industry, there is much room for improvement. Some of the means by which the consequences of discrepancies may be mitigated are examined in the report, and a number of recommendations are made aimed at improving the measurement of inaccuracy, the timing of physical inventories and location surveys, the investigation of inaccuracies, the timing of stock record adjustments, and the control of the generation of errors.
