Abstract : A critical survey of recent progress in extraterrestrial dust studies is presented. Both experimental and theoretical work are reviewed and some of the most convincing evidence for the existence of meteoritic dust is given. The possibility of an equatorial satellite belt is also mentioned. The paper may serve as a general introduction to the study of meteoritic dust. The theoretical topics include: the effect of radiation pressure, the Poynting-Robertson effect, and the rate of dust fall. Reference is made to 76 papers. (Author)
