Abstract : The present work consists of two separate parts. In the first part, an attempt is made to give a picture of the general behavior of the effect on the basis of a series of different experiments on pure aluminum. The second part consists of a reformulation and simplification of the theory of internal friction caused by viscously damped dislocations. (Author)
